I can't help comparing this to FireArms videos and I must say that it's a bit slow in pace for my likings. I personally didn't go very far with making FA fragfilms, but I do know that the good ones there were more exciting to watch due to the choice in music and the pace in gameplay. Now, of course this 2142 and not FA, but I still find it a bit lacking in that department. I did like the choice is going for mostly instrumental music and you did well with going for Ready Steady Go, I like that song a lot. In my personal opinion, it could use some more spectacular footage, a higher pace and don't be afraid to throw in a song that's a little more 'rough', metal, hard rock, punk, etc.
With Battlefield videos, I really couldn't find a decent one. Everyone gets one or to kills then goes to the next clip, no real display of skill. I realize that some of the clips in the middle of the video could have been a little better, I didn't have much time to make this video either. These clips are not the compilation of the best of the best of 3 years of playing, but rather, clips that I quickly picked up over a 3 week period over the holidays. I realize that the playerbase for 2142 is no longer anywhere near as big as it used to be as there are a lot of newer and better games coming out and this is exactly why I made this video.
I wanted to finish a 2142 video before MO was released because I'll be doing a fresh install on my computer this week and I don't think BF2142 is gonna make the transfer. In the mean time, I'll be playing MO, and waiting the release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Every time I quit a game, I try to make a video of my current skills so that I can view it years later and watch in awe and nostalgia. I really wish the video consisted of the best of 3 years, however I didn't have a decent enough computer to fraps while playing 100% of the time until just a year ago. And even then, I didn't know if I was gonna get around to making it or not.
This was my very first first-person gaming video and I think it's damn good based on what I had to work with and only 1 month production time. I agree with most of your points and next time I realize it will be good to fast forward through the slower parts to get to the action, rather than having long periods of time between kills or just having a transition to the next clip. That way it's fast paced, and you still know that deaths weren't edited out. Also, a lot of the rock genre I don't like kinda how you don't like hip hop so it will be difficult for me to find these type of songs, but I will keep it in mind.
Thanks for watching
