Hello gents and Shara.

Basic Information:

My username: NakieoN both on forum and in-game

I've pre-ordered the game ever since literally the 2nd day preorders came out - I was originally going for a full loot bag but my internet nuked on the first day (bad wire in the ground) and I had to order the boxed version.  I got Block C access but did not play very much until after Block E.

I've played MO a lot in beta, and crossed paths with a lot of the core Myrmidon players (Shara, Angarato, Godly, Neoxx, Inferno, etc) as an Acolyte.  Unfortunately I did not want to burn out so I stopped playing almost a half year ago and went into hiberation - basically waited for release.

About the Ventrilo requirement, I have absolutely no problem with that, but however, as most of you Myrmidon that I've crossed paths with, you all know I am deaf.  So it's inevitable that I'll have to write up a paragraph explaining my situation with my deafness, my cochlear implant, and Ventrilo.  Ever since birth, I've been completely deaf, but fortunately I was a perfect candidate for a revolutionary device - a 'cure' for deafness - the cochlear implant.  I won't get into the scientific details right now but basically I can hear everything up to a certain level of dB (observed this while deer hunting) but the problem is the understanding.  On Vent, if you are saying something I can HEAR you, but may not UNDERSTAND you.  Some people are compatible with me on Vent, some aren't.  Anyways, I have been told that I can talk clearly and everyone can understand me but unfortunately I am conscious about it and like to stick to the keyboard over the mike.  Anyways, I understand that this is 2010 and 99% of guilds require Ventrilo so I'll have to get used to it.  I just had to warn you that I may not be someone you'd want to strike up a conversation with over Vent.


* What kind of player do you consider yourself

A world-class player that loves to be a PvPer/griefer.  I may be a textbook narcissistic but I am not exaggerating when I say this: almost all FPS games I play, I'll topscore most gameplay rounds.  At almost all MMO's I play, I enjoy using the environment to combat my opponent and I am very good with sneaking around and making sure the enemy does not see me... err, that last one sounded awkward.  Anyways yea, I strive to be the best and the very best.

* What games have you played. MMO and FPS games are most relevant.

FPS: CSS, HL2:DM, COD2, COD4, MW2, BF2, BF2142, BFBC2, TF2
RTS: WAR3, SC, SC2 (beta, pre-ordered)
MMO: WOW, EVE, WAR, AOC, GW, MO (obviously)
RPG: Diablo 2, Borderlands, Fallout 3, Oblivion (the reason why I love MO)

* What drew you to our guild and what will you bring to the guild.

Well... where to start...

I joined a pre-release guild for Warhammer Online called 'The Umbrella Corporation' and we were a guild of pvp'ers that were not one of the best, but the best.  That phrase I bolded was actually a quote from a post our leader said in reply to someone else questioning our power.  We were aiming to be the world's #1 guild, but unfortunately we only hit #1 on server but #30 in the world after around 2 months... Our server choice at launch doomed us as we rolled on a LOW population on the server so the only thing we could do was keep steamrolling everyone over and over and only had a little people to kill after a while.  After that happened, our guild basically broke apart and there's been a gaping hole in my heart waiting for a guild like that again.

That is why I have been slowly growing a certain kind of love for the Myrmidons.  Despite my break from MO, I still remember your members and their individual PvP skill levels.  I still read the forums and when I read posts by the Myrmidons in defense of their authority or power, I can see that you guys have the ability to be not one of the best, but the best (if not already the best).  This alone has won me and my loyalty.

What I can bring to the guild?  Well, as you can see I am a very detailed person and in turn I am able to decipher details from another person's gameplay, forum posting, or general character and am able to utilize that knowledge/information to help me and my peers win a fight against said person.  It is a little harder to explain but lets just say that I am great as a PvPer because I can quickly study the opponent and adjust my moves accordingly.  So... there you have it: recruit me and you get some nerdy but skilled PvPer to bolster your ranks and reputation.

* Skilled in combat.  We won't be your teacher.

Of course, and I am sure that some of you can vouch for this... if you remember me at all.

* Competent in group combat. Working well as a group is very important.

In addition to the whole deaf thing, I'd like to add that it is easy for me to understand what you call out during a fight.  For instance, if we're fighting a group that has 3 people named... lets say Bob, Joe, and xxxLEGOLASxxx.  If you say 'target Bob' I'll be able to understand that no problem.  However if we are fighting as a group I need some details on how we're going to approach the situation.  For example if we're going to call out targets, then tell me that we're going to do that so I know what to listen for on vent.  If we're going to just attack whoever, then tell me, but I'll still be listening on vent in case of a change.


* Mature attitude, be competent and show common sense.

Of course.

* Be cool to everyone in the guild. Outside of the guild we do not care what you do or who you piss off.

Of course.

* Active player. We do not want to see you only once a week for an hour.

Is 40+ hours a week active?

* Willing to become a target. We aren't afraid of being "red", and neither should you.

How can one become a target if no one wants to fight the target (they fear him)?  Wouldn't that particular situation nullify the fact one is a target?

* Regular guild forum use.

Of course.

* Regular Ventrilo use when playing, this will be essential to being successful in MO.

Of course, just don't start up a conversation with me because I probably won't understand you anyway.

Dervin is actually from that one guild I was talking about - The Umbrella Corporation.  We played a bit on SC2 together and still talk from time to time through xfire.  Small world.

p.s. Up til now, I always thought Shara was a female (IRC/Forum rumors ftl) but then I saw his application and I was like... d'oh.

can you elaborate alittle bit more on your deafness? we are a very ventrillo focused guild, to what extent can you understand us and talk to us? if you can communicate well (specially in combat) then i don'T see any problem so i hope that is the case.

also i do remember you and what i remember is not that positive, you talked alot of shit(which is fine) but when asked for duels you dodged every single time with every lame excuse in the book. hope i wont see that kind of stuff in the future, some of us talk shit but all of us can back it up. actions speak louder than words

During combat usually I don't talk - I let the others talk because if I needed to talk I'd need to press some button and that distracts me personally, but I...could always turn on the setting where if I talk loud enough it'll automatically make me talk in vent and I should be able to talk during combat, just that I'll sound like I'm a little distracted (obviously, given the situation).

If you are worried that I can't understand what you're calling out - that is no problem because I'm generally good with small phrases such as 'kill X'   'loot Y'   'give me armor'   'go there'  'go to sleep' and other stuff.

So... summarily:

Talking: not a fan

Listening: I do my best, if I can't understand then I just wing it to the best I can (use common sense to know what to do... if everyone is on this guy, go on that guy - if everyone is leaving, leave - etc).

It also helps greatly if the person talking on vent has a clear voice / mic / etc, not a person with a native Spanish accent talking really really fast with high static while a car without a muffler is running in the background.

I know.  I remember.  I knew the second that I considered applying for Myrmidons that I'd have this resurface.  There's no denying what I did.  No, you won't see that stuff in the future, and I still plan on having that 1v1 with you.  Y'know, that thing we discussed over PM on the MO forums.

Hopefully MO will be to a more playable poitn soon and we can roll together and do some combat testing and such.   We've been playing other games like BC2, APB, and a few more so even if you're not on MO hop in vent and theres generally someone to game with.

So I think I remember running into you at cavecamp one time a while ago during closed beta, and we had a small battle.  I then remember having a shit talk fest via irc afterwards?  Anyways, I remember your confidence and claims that you knew you were a good PvP'er and that you could whoop my ass anyday, etc.

Anyways, I like your app.  I like details, and I think you'd be a great addition to the guild because of your attitude and experience.  I think the deafness part can be adjusted too, but I would like to actually be on vent with you and exercise PVP with you to see how things go.

That's how respect works with me. And you sir, have earned mad respect. To me, you've already proven that you are a very strong person just by the simple fact that you've dropped an application and come into Vent and talk despite being deaf. I am sure that many of us in this guild might not have the courage to do this if we were in your situation, myself included.

At first I was a bit worried that I might not be able to understand you over vent because I often have a tough time with people who have heavy accents. But I assure you that I understand what you're saying 95% of the time, which is better than can be said about a couple of our members that aren't deaf, haha!

Anyway, we've played BC2 for a bit and I'm sure you're a good player... I have seen you kick ass and I was impressed. They say that when you lose one of your senses that the remaining ones strengthen and I am willing to bet that your visual situational awareness is much better than most of ours.

Nothing bad to say about ya, thumbs up from me.

There are many types of situational awarenesses, you know, like when you're at the chinese buffet and you're standing there scooping Chicken & Broccoli onto your 4th plate you smell the fresh Lo Mein behind you... and you hear the Egg Rolls sizzlin' there to your left. That would be your aromatic and auditory situational awarenesses respectively. Both of which happen to be senses.

I need to find a font that's made out of shapes of food so you'll fucking pay attention.

Actually it was around Fab, but at the time when Warchild was on I couldn't get on my combat char as everytime I logged on him I'd crash, so I was on a crafting alt trying to learn about crafting so I can make my own sword to use for combat testing... but unfortunately testing will not get done anytime soon because:

1) I don't have a sword or axe other than the noob sword

2) The guys got off or something

3) I'm going camping this weekend

Not to mention the gathering axe doesn't seem to give axe skill when I attack people with it, so I can't even train axes right now unless I read the book, but I'm working on obtaining Combat Maneuvering skills and then Agility skills shortly afterwards...

p.s. i can login to my combat char now, was trying to find warchild and then he got off vent shortly afterwards.

Short update: coming back early from camping... will be back tomorrow at dinnertime and if it goes that way then I should be able to make my own swords tomorrow night and be 'ready' for any possible combat tests.
